CCDC
Accreditation
CCDC was granted accreditation from the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC)Academy of Early Childhood Program Accreditation in 1988, one of the first programs in the country to achieve this status. CCDC has continuously maintained accreditation since then, earning merit extensions in 1995, 1999 and 2003. Only 2% of accredited programs have received a merit extension.
NAEYC administers the largest and most widely recognized national, voluntary, professionally sponsored accreditation system for all types of early childhood schools and child care centers. NAEYC is the nation's largest organization of early childhood educators.
What is accreditation?
Early childhood programs accredited by the Academy have voluntarily undergone a comprehensive process of internal self-study, invited external professional review to verify compliance with the Criteria for High-Quality Early Childhood Programs, and been found to be in substantial compliance with the Criteria. "Programs are evaluated in ten areas: Interactions Among Teachers and Children, Curriculum, Relationships Among Teachers and Families, Staff Qualifications and Development, Administration, Staffing, Physical Environment, Health and Safety, Nutrition and Food Service and Evaluation." In it's initial Commission Decision Report, CCDC was commended by the Academy for "achieving consistently high ratings in all components of the evaluation."
