Animal Embassy visits CCDC twice a month on the second Wednesday and Thursday. In a typical month, they see the toddler and preschool groups on Wednesday and then just the preschool groups on Thursday for a more in-depth look at animals, science and nature. This month, the second Thursday came before the second Wednesday, so it was reversed.
On Thursday, October 8, Mike brought baby turtles...
Mike arrived on Wednesday with a variety of animals to introduce to the toddler and preschool classes: a tree frog, turtle, snake and a cockroach. The younger children just observe or touch — some are reluctant but over time they all seem to warm up to whatever comes in. Chris came on Wednesday to visit the Young Toddlers, Older Toddlers, Preschool 3′s and Preschool 4′s. He brought turtles, frogs & toads and talked to the children about vernal pools (not like a swimming pool!), the habitats that animals live in and that they should live in their natural habitats. He told the older children how “Lily” a spotted turtle he introduced, was found in...
