Halloween provides children — especially preschoolers — many opportunities to play, pretend and sing about their imagined friends and foes. Lynn has many Halloween songs in her repertoire that never fail to elicit delight in children and multiple requests to repeat them “again” and “again”.

The summer is a bittersweet time for families in the Preschool 4′s Room. Although the official graduation ceremony is at the end of June, there are many events throughout the summer that mark the end: “the last day” for children who finish earlier than our final day, the last Animal Embassy, Coach John and Music.
This year, there were several children that were going to miss...
The summer started with music…. The Preschoolers rehearsed, made their costumes and performed for their families.
Roles changed frequently in One Was Johnny from day to day — “I want to be a rat”, ”I want to be a dog”, etc. The night of the performance, everyone managed to do their part with just a little prompting.

There was great joy Friday morning for everyone – parents, teachers and children — when we opened at 10:00 after yet another snow storm!
Last week, we had our first day of sledding and what fun we all had! The hill – or “the mountain” as many children call it — is perfect for young children: there is enough incline to go a little fast and to also walk...
The month of September brings new classrooms, new friends and the continuation of some of our favorite “specials” – music, Animal Embassy, yoga and Coach John.
Our goal with these specials is to expose children to a broad range of experiences. All of these teachers have been carefully chosen and would be considered experts in their respective fields. Most importantly, they also reflect the priorities we emphasize here at CCDC – thoughtful and sensitive interaction, developmentally...
Summer fun at CCDC includes music, water play and walks in the fields. This week, one of Coach John’s water play activities involved throwing wet sponges at him! Coach John is a retired phys ed teacher who continues to have fun and his joy is contagious. Take a look at the photo albums posted in Eileen’s photos and you will not only cool off you...
Our music teacher Lynn returned on Tuesday! She has been in Chicago for the past three months and has conducted music classes via Skype. When we told the children that Lynn would be back, one of the children in the 3′s room excitedly asked, “the person?”! The Young Toddlers were a little leary of Lynn at first, expecting to see her on the computer screen but warmed...
If you think that Halloween goes on too long, spend some time with Preschoolers! They begin talking about what they are “going to be for Halloween” almost as soon as it’s over. Lynn has a repertoire of Halloween favorites and requests from the Preschool 4′s begin in September since they remember many of the songsfrom previous years. The favorites are the “Witch, Old Witch”, “Five Little...

Our Preschool Musical Theatre was a big hit this year! Our Music Teacher Lynn Riegler taught the children the music and they rehearsed their roles for two weeks prior to the performance. The Preschool 3′s performed “One Was Johnny” and the Preschool 4′s performed the “Three Piggy Opera”. The children assumed their various roles with enthusiasm and enjoyment much to the delight of the audience!
