Financial Assistance

Financial assistance is available to eligible applicants through the support of the United Way of Coastal Fairfield County and the CCDC Suzanne Rubenstein Scholarship Fund (supported through the fundraising efforts of CCDC families).

Approximately 15 to 20% of CCDC families receive financial assistance to pay for child care and early education.  Families with low to moderate incomes that qualify for the State of Connecticut’s child care assistance program, Care 4 Kids, may apply for a scholarship to supplement the subsidy they receive.

Determination of Scholarships

Scholarships are given for charitable purposes to families to assist in the payment of child care tuition.  In order to determine eligibility for a scholarship and the level of assistance provided, each of the following factors are given consideration:

Family Financial Situation

  • Total income – substantiated by copies of W-2′s
  • Expenses – detailed explanation of how money is spent
  • Assets – as indicated on most recent tax return
  • Debt obligation – particular consideration for student loans and unreimbursed medical expenses, as opposed to credit cards

Family Characteristics

  • Single parent – custody arrangement, level of financial and other support
  • Work schedule of parent(s) – child care required – full or part time
  • Number of children – particularly those requiring child care

Special Considerations of Circumstances

  • Health or other expenses related to special needs
