Leading Beyond Our Walls
Exceptional early childhood education extends beyond the walls of a single classroom.
At CCDC, we believe our responsibility reaches beyond the children and families we serve each day. By preparing future educators, supporting the professional growth of our teaching team, and contributing to the broader early childhood community, we are helping strengthen the future of the profession for generations to come.

Preparing the Next Generation of Educators
CCDC is proud to serve as the laboratory school partner for the University of Connecticut Stamford Early Childhood Education program. The partnership began because of our shared commitment to developmentally appropriate practice and preparing future educators through meaningful, immersive experiences.
Our connection to UConn runs deep. Our Director began at CCDC as a UConn student teacher, as did seven of our current full-time educators. The partnership keeps us connected to emerging research, best practices, and the next generation of teachers while reinforcing our own commitment to continual reflection and growth.
Leading the Profession
CCDC believes that strong schools have a responsibility to strengthen early childhood education beyond their own classrooms.
Our Director serves as Co-President of the Connecticut Association for the Education of Young Children (CTAEYC), helping guide the state's leading professional organization for early childhood educators. Through this leadership, CCDC remains closely connected to the conversations, advocacy, professional learning, and relationships shaping the future of early childhood education across Connecticut.
This leadership is reflected within our own community as well. Members of our teaching team serve on the CTAEYC Board of Directors and the UConn Early Childhood Advisory Board, expanding CCDC's culture of leadership and professional engagement.
Investing in Our Educators
Exceptional experiences for children begin with exceptional educators.
Staff Appreciation Fund
Through our Staff Appreciation Fund, established by a generous alumni family, we celebrate
educators throughout the year with holiday bonuses, weekly breakfasts, appreciation events, and
Teacher Appreciation Week.
Eileen A. Ward Dedication Fund
The Eileen A. Ward Dedication Fund honors the remarkable 44 years of leadership provided by
CCDC's longtime Director by recognizing educators who build long-term careers at CCDC
through meaningful retirement contributions at significant career milestones.
Annual Conference
Each year, the majority of our teaching team attends the CTAEYC Annual Conference, a select
group attends the NAEYC Annual Conference, and financial assistance is available for educators
pursuing additional coursework, degrees, and professional credentials.
Our Commitment
We believe every child deserves exceptional educators.
That is why we invest not only in the children and families within our own classrooms, but also in the future of the early childhood profession itself. By mentoring future teachers, supporting lifelong learning, encouraging leadership, and contributing to the broader educational community, we hope to leave the profession stronger than we found it.
Because when educators grow, children thrive.
